Ihedioha flags off health insurance scheme in Imo

Imo State Governor Emeka Ihedioha has launched a health insurance scheme in the state. Launching the scheme yesterday in Owerri, he became the first citizen to enrol. Commissioners as well as his aides also registered, followed by civil servants. The governor, at the launch, announced the contribution of one per cent equity from the consolidated revenue fund, expressing optimism that the scheme would enable the beneficiaries unhindered access to “quality and affordable” healthcare. Both the Commissioner for Health, Dr. Vin Udokwu, and the Senior Special Assistant to the Governor on Health, Stella Mbadiwe, said the target was to enrol all the workers, noting that they had accepted deduction of a percentage from their salaries to enable them access health facilities in any hospital of their choice. The governor also launched a roadmap for the agriculture sector in the state, with the approval for the training of select youths in other states and massive expansion of agricultural programmes. To improve on this, the governor launched a rice farm in Amaumara, Ezinihitte Mbaise Council. He also flagged off Rural Access Mobility Project (RAMP), which the state has contributed its counterpart fund for the massive construction of identified rural roads in different parts of the state. This is to ensure successful driving of the projects.
